Alhaurin is a unique golf club; there is an 18 hole par 72 course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, a 9 hole course surrounded by a magnificent lake and another 18 hole course for children (adults can only play when accompanied by children). The par 72 course is of international standard with ….. holes, greenish fairways and greens bordered by pine groves. It is situated between Mijas and Coin in the Sierra of Mijas with spectacular views of the mountains of North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea.
Just like San Roque Club, Almenara was designed by Dave Thomas. The club opened its third nine holes in 2001, a spectacular course passing through a series of large lakes and with some of the most impressive holes in Europe. With this third course, Almenara provides a perfect balance for the game.
It was designed by the architect Baron Von Limburger and opened in 1966. It is one of the most internationally renowned courses on the coast, with 24 different nationalities among its members.
It is a flat course with a large number of raised greens and fairways bordered by eucalyptus and pine trees.
Open since 1993, it is a course situated in the mountains on uneven land with fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea. The use of a buggy is advisable on this course.
Open since 1974, Gary Player designed this course, distributing the wide fairways over rugged land crossed by streams which, in most cases, cannot be seen from the tee.
Estepona Golf is a "pay and play" course offering a magnificent natural setting and a course not without difficulties providing for an enjoyable game. Nevertheless, the fairways are wide and the greens are large, so the secret is probably not to be too ambitious. The design fits in with the natural environment of the Sierra Bermeja in the background and the sea can be seen from most holes. The fairway on the 3rd hole falls down sharply with the green despairingly out of reach but do not lose heart. The 7th hole, a par 4 with a raised tee, offers the bold the chance to reach the green, situated 250 metres away. It is a hole which falls away to the left with water on both sides of the green. Each hole represents a new challenge, as should be the case with any course.
Open since 1993, it is also an uneven and undulating course, designed in such a way that it allows an enjoyable game, regardless of the standard of play. The magnificent view towards Mijas from the 15th hole is outstanding.
Open since 1991, it is a course in the heart of the countryside with many undulations giving players the satisfaction of playing outside the city. They will enjoy marvellous and spectacular views from the 6th hole. Both courses are very recommendable.
This is the story of a town which wanted a golf course. When they had one they asked for another and then another. Guadiaro used to send its men to the courses in Sotogrande. In this way, they became green keepers and built the golf course. There were far more golfers in Guadiaro than in any another town of its size in Spain. They cut out a mountain track and the boys practiced near the football pitch. Jaime Ortiz Patino took an interest in them, the Town Hall provided the land, Robert Trent Jones took responsibility for the design and La Cañada began to take shape. Ten years later, thanks to economic aid from the "first tee" programme and Jaime Ortiz Patino, the second nine holes course was opened, on this occasion designed by Dave Thomas. A great municipal course.
It is the first course in Europe suitable for play 24 hours a day, situated between Marbella and Puerto Banus. The 2,700 metre course flanks both sides of the Rio Verde riverbed. It also has a powerful lighting system at night, allowing play when the sun goes down. La Dama de Noche is noteworthy for its refined appearance, achieved thanks to the palm trees and other species which adorn the course, designed by Enrique Canales.
Open since 1986, designed by Robert Trent Jones, one of the most renowned architects, and surrounded by spectacular scenery and views. The 18 holes have pleasant fairways, especially hole n?8, par 3 measuring 108 metres deemed "a challenge for any golfer".
This course was designed with a logical layout and opened in 1989. The distances between the tees and greens are short, allowing players a fluent drive. The tees at La Quinta are raised, providing excellent visibility for players. The width of the fairways allows ambitious drives from the tees but punishes bad strokes.
It is one of the newest courses, designed by Bartolomé Benítez San Juan in 1999. This course is ideal for beginners and is situated in a valley with beautiful views of the Mediterranean and Sierra Bermeja. It has abundant woodland with almond trees, corn oaks, pines and palm trees.

This course has a small river finishing in the form of a lake. Each hole is defined by its own kind of trees including cypresses, orange trees, olive trees, pines, chestnut trees and pomegranate trees.
It is a flat, long champinship course with water hazards and large greens. It is also characterised by its wide fairwaysIt has been recently renovated for its silver anniversary. Designed by Robert Trent jones, the course is named after its nine water hazards. Los Lagos is a flat course with wide open spaces. The tees for holes 10th and 11th are onto a hill. Number 10th is the shortest hole in the course and number 13 is a par five hole in a sharp downslope.
Open since 1977. The first nine holes of this course are on undulating ground and are protected by pines and eucalyptus trees. The background of these nine holes is full of orange trees hence the name of the course. The 18th hole, par 5 is one of the most demanding of the entire Costa del Sol due to its spectacular finish.
It is an enjoyable golf course with elevated greens in the nearby hills with par three, four and five respectively.
The greens have been almost doubled. The area near the lake around the 6th, 7th, 8th and 18th has undergone a complete renovation and is delimited by white stones. Hole 4th, which curved abruptly to the right and raised to the green before, is now a straight hole. The par 3 5th has been totally eliminated. The par 4 13th has been raised, allowing you to see the green form the tee. The par 3 14th has new elevated tees and a renovates green with new bunkers.
It is one of the most spectacular courses on the coast, opening its gates in 1992. It lies in the upper part of a mountain valley. One of the peculiarities of this course is the number of winding streams and bridges which cross it, making the fairways and greens more difficult.
It is advisable to take more balls than usual and a camera.
Designed by Enrique Canales, it is the most modern course on the entire Costa del Sol. This course is perfect for all kinds of players, although some of its holes will be a real challenge. It also has a marvellous Club House where you can relax and enjoy a nice rest after covering the course..
Designed by Dave Thomas and Tony Jacklin and opened in 1990, it is situated in the hills of the Sierra Bermeja between Jerez and Marbella. In general terms San Roque is a narrow course with sloping fairways between corn oaks requiring accurate drives. However this course consists of two areas connected to each other, each with nine holes and with different characteristics. Another important feature to point out in San Roque is the golf school managed by Severiano Ballesteros. Furthermore a new course is being built which will be completed by the end of 2003, created by the legendary American designer Perry Dye. This course consists of unbeatable views of the mountains in an area with corn oaks.
Built in the seventies by the best known of all golf course designers in Malaga, Pepe Gancedo, Torrequebrada is one of the most popular courses on the coast and is a delight to play on. Torrequebrada has lakes and pretty subtropical vegetation, offering splendid views of the sea. The 11th hole is one of the course’s most impressive with a par 3, measuring 164 metres long and surrounded by water, bunkers, palm trees as well as pines. The greens fall away rapidly. The course was the setting for the 53rd Spanish Open in 1979.

The course is an 18-hole, par 72 and 5.866 metres long and has been built according to United States Golf Association (USGA) rules and regulations with regard to the tees, bunkers, drainage and greens.
